Norwegian Language Course
with SINTEF and Onboard Norway
To participate and actively contribute to meetings with internal and some external clients. Expand Norwegian vocabulary for industry and technical specific work.
(Course only conducted in Norwegian). For those who have a good proficiency in Norwegian to improve upon grammar, spoken use and Norwegian vocabulary toward industry/workplace specific terminology.
Participants will gain a solid grasp of Norwegian vocabulary and grammatical skills and will further expand their knowledge of the language into specialist topics. This level builds on existing knowledge of grammar, with an added focus on vocabulary and conversation, introducing wider specialised vocabulary and expressions.
There is a focus on building confidence holding discussions about different topics, and to actively contributing to meetings with both internal and external clients. This will be equivalent to B2/C1 in the Central European Framework for Language (CEFR).
Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction in the workplace and meetings with internal and external clients quite possible. Understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar. Explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
2 hours of face to face class time per week. There is no testing or examination for this course, but there will be assigned homework tasks and participants are expected to complete 3-4 hours of self-study each week.

Her på Berget (Ellingsen E & MacDonald K, 2018) This will be provided to each participant. There is no need to purchase material for this course.
Additional learning material
This will include some use of newspaper and magazine articles; this will be provided by instructors throughout the course.
One 2-hour class time each week (including 15-minute break). Classes will be limited to 5-8 participants. This course is being provided to you by your employer with the expectation that you will attend each class. If you are not able to attend a class, it must be arranged with your instructor beforehand. If classes are missed without notification, your instructor will follow up with you and, if needs be, with your supervisor.
